Will God Hear from America on May 7th, 2009?
This coming Thursday, the 7th of May, is designated as our National Day of Prayer. On that day, will God, hear from you?
Americans should be calling on, telephoning, and e-mailing everyone they know; asking them to gather together with family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors, -to fast and to pray for this country in just a few days.
Here in Naples, Florida, many thousands of Americans will be gathering at their places of worship, at City /County Halls, and at the Naples Pier on the Gulf of Mexico, to pray!
1 Peter 3:12 says, "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil."
Satan has come to destroy America by dividing our people, and creating disharmony through ignorance and hatred. Today, some would say, we find America irreconcilably divided, not among traditional religions; but between leftwing non-traditionalists, and the traditionalists who are predominately Christians.
On the 7th of April 2009, President Obama said in a speech given in Turkey, "One of the great strengths of the United States is... we have a very large Christian population. We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation; we consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."
This was a slight digression from a June 2006 speech, in which Obama said, "Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation - at least, not just. We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers."
It is clear that our President believes we are no longer a Christian nation, but rather an assortment of several mini nations. President Obama believes America is a nation of people curiously "bound by ideals and a set of values", having no extrinsic anchor and objective source. "Whatever we once were", seems to imply that what we once were is not important, or perhaps that it is impossible to determine what America once was. Either way, the President's lack of basic understanding of American history and the origins of our liberty, are both important and troubling issues!
"... and where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." (2 Corinthians 3:17)
Our founding fathers were very much aware of what brought national prosperity and national blessings upon this nation and our people. Most of them were deeply religious men. They appointed chaplains for the government and the armed forces, sponsored the publication of a Bible, imposed Christian morality on the armed forces, and granted public lands to promote Christianity among the Indians. National days of thanksgiving and of "humiliation, fasting, and prayer" were commonly proclaimed by Congress at least twice a year, from the time of the Revolutionary War until 1789.
Congress was guided by "covenant theology," a Reformation doctrine especially dear to New England Puritans, which held that God bound himself in an agreement with a nation and its people. This agreement stipulated that they "should be prosperous or afflicted, according as their general Obedience or Disobedience thereto appears." Wars and revolutions were, accordingly, considered afflictions, as divine punishments for sin, from which a nation could rescue itself by repentance and reformation. Likewise, the condition of our economy was either a blessing or a curse, directly related to our nation's spiritual health.
America was founded by men and women who took the words of their Savior, Jesus Christ quite literally:
"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." (John 15:4-5)
Since actively attempting to cut "God" out of our society, some wonder why we are in such bad shape in America. We fail to realize we have only succeeded in cutting "ourselves" off from the vine that sustains us. We will wither and die unless God grafts us back in!
Approximately 76 percent of adult Americans (current U.S. population: 306,352,838) identify themselves as Christians. They know their history, and can rightly and collectively state, "America still is a Christian nation!" Our job is to get the 535 members of Congress (100 in the Senate / 435 in the House of Representatives) and our President to care about our opinion and God's laws again. There is no room for complacency here!
Today, most Christian families are not having enough children to maintain our population and preserve our Christian heritage. The consequences of fifty years of abortions (and close to a 100 million dead babies) in America are becoming evident. Muslim birth rates have so far out-paced those of Christians abroad (6-8 to 1), that most European countries will be Muslim run states in the next 15 to 25 years, with no foreseeable way to stop the rising tide. America is only barely holding its own.
If the President is successful in allowing huge numbers of Muslim immigrants diametrically opposed to our Judeo-Christian laws and values, into this country; America will quickly follow Europe's population shift, if we continue to ignore God's command to be "fruitful and multiply".
"Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man. And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therin." (Genesis 9:6-8)
President Obama continues to make appointments to office, from the far-left. A recent example is a child-porn defender, appointed as second-in-command at the Justice Department.
An organized effort is underway by the liberals in Congress, to abolish all laws that place any restrictions on abortions. Laws that are supported by the overwhelming majority of people in this country! Is this a government of the People, by the People, for the People?
Activists pushing the homosexual agenda are seeking to redefine God's definition of marriage in state after state; with same sex marriage bills, civil unions, domestic partnership schemes, that seek hate crimes legislation, promote gay adoption, and demand transgender rights.
God-fearing Citizens must rise up and confront these vile attacks on our society, and stand up for the Word of God:
"Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting." (Romans 1: 24-28)
Corporate greed and corruption in America has been rewarded with insane financial irresponsibility at the highest levels of government. These policies promote theft from people ("Thou shalt not steal." Exodus 20:15 & Deuteronomy 5:19), and use the rule of law as justification. God's wisdom and blessing in Deuteronomy 28:12 & 13 have been intentionally ignored:
"You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom."
Our politicians have allowed China and Saudi Arabia to own most of our national debt. They have foolishly rejected God's truth:
The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. (Proverbs 22:7)
As we approach this year's National Day of Prayer, we should ask ourselves a simple question: Have we as a nation broken the covenant our founding fathers made with the Almighty? My answer: Yes, I believe we have. Yet, it is not too late for God to turn things around, IF we follow His instructions!
"If my people, who are called by my name (America: One Nation Under God), will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (II Chronicles 7:14)
The United States of America is in decline, because we have cut ourselves off from The Vine! If we are to survive, Americans today must recognize as our founding fathers did, that the "Liberties of America are imminently endangered" and that there is a "great need to acknowledge the overruling Providence of God'" again in this country.
I ask you to do more than wear a t-shirt, make a sign, or wave a flag, as millions of Americans did during TEA Parties on April 15, 2009 (Did our President, or our government, even take serious notice?). I am asking you to do something much more powerful... and that is to gather together with fellow Americans, and to PRAY to our Creator, and to our God, on this upcoming 58th Annual Observance of America's National Day of "Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer", on Thursday, May 7, 2009 (Our God will hear us, and He will act!).
- It is a day to observe as a time of prayer and fasting.
- to seek guidance from God to achieve a greater understanding of our own failings and to learn how we can do better in our everyday activities.
- to gain resolve and God's wisdom in meeting the challenges that confront our Nation.
Plan to take that day off from work now, if you are able. Go without food or drink from sundown the night before, until sundown Thursday. We need to learn how to incorporate "humiliation, fasting, and prayer" as our forefathers did, on an individual basis, and as a nation, to again ask God's blessings on us.
Pray daily for this country. But let us all pray together, as a nation, on May 7th, 2009.
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." (Matthew 18:20)
This is a powerful verse, and a powerful promise. I have seen the Almighty act, when just two Christian law enforcement officers prayed for God's intervention during a God-less, and immoral Hip-Hop, rap festival. The performers were encouraging young teens to engage in sexual promiscuity and vulgarity. Almost immediately the concert came to a quick end! Imagine the power of millions of united voices being heard up on High!
May God continue to bless the United States of America, and God Save This People!
